I must say I’m feeling that I’m being pulled very, very thin lately with regards to my work. I’m in the midst of a huge project that will pay me well but the catch is I have to finish it. It has been my focus and my life the last week or so. And as the economy has dictated (for me at least), I have to put in the time if I plan on paying any bills.

The question this morning is: Should I shower or just work in my pj’s?
What is the point of me telling you this? I’m busy. I’m stressed. I miss reading all of your blogs. I miss posting. I hate excuses. So I’ll just stop now.
I got a call yesterday from the owner at my new gym. She missed seeing me. I haven’t been there in probably 4-5 days. I thought that was very nice of her to call me – what gym does that? It also reminded me I have to make time for ME when I’m busy and work is unrelenting. Heading there today NO.MATTER.WHAT.
How do you cope with a heavy work load and stay focused on YOU?
On another note, I must be moving up just a little in the blogging world. I have been contacted by several companies asking if I’d like free samples of their products to try. Is that what happens to all of you other popular bloggers? :)

One company, American’s Nutrition, sent me a wonderful package of goodies. My favorite thing by far is the Blender Bottle. Oh my, how I love this thing!!!! It has a wire wisk inside of the bottle (which you can remove if you’d like) that helps shake up your drinks! Almost daily I make a smoothie or protein shake, so it’s very useful to me. Sure beats the crappy bottle I used to use – the lid would NEVER screw on properly.
I also was given some of the Full Bars & Aqua Full to try, which were not bad. You all know I’m not a fan of processed foods, BUT if you need something in a jiffy, these may work for you. The products were created by a doctor to reduce hunger.

GIVE AWAY!!!! Full Bars, Aqua Full & Mill Creek Botanical Keratin Conditioner
I do have some extra products left over and would like to give them away. All you have to do is leave me a comment below and tell me how you cope with a heavy work load and stay focused on YOU and I’ll pick the winner at random.

I think you should be very flattered that you are getting contacted by companies:) Not sure how that happens, but it certainly is a nod to you as a blogger.
I have to admit that I have a very boring life and can’t help with your question. I don’t work and my kids are older than yours, so if I want it, I have plenty of time for myself now. My problem is sort of the opposite, how do I motivate myself to fill my time in a productive way? I have no excuse not to work out every day and get myself in the best shape of my life!

Well, I work 10 hr days right now at the YMCA doing Summer Rec with kids. I go to work and sometimes when i get off of work I just use the equipment in the Y. Other times I just go home right away, eat my oatmeal and do a workout in my garage. I am lucky enough to have a ton of lifting equipment and an elliptical in my garage-thanks to my dad. Other times when I dont work until later in the day, I’ll get up early and workout before work, which I have found that I function better at work.

How did you get all that stuff for free? That’s awesome, and I’m so glad you’re enjoying it all! I also have one of those whisker bottles, and it’s amazing! :) Enjoy!

Congratulations on moving up in the blogger world! That is a tribute to you. I am very busy myself … full time job, 2 kids (the oldest has a develop. delay due to brain trauma at birth). I will be honest, I HATE being busy. I was an only child , with lots of free private time, and being busy stresses me (busy with what does not really matter, I just like time to hang). I sure don’t have any magic answers, except to take time for myself whenever the opportunity provides itself. This week I am doing remote training from home and it feels like a mini vaca! No kids (they are at Y camp), nice coffee, good music, wearing junky clothes. I have not been to the gym as much as I should, but I do go to the track as often as I can because I love being outside with my iPod, and sweating. The upside is that the kids can come with me, play at the playground, and go home when they feel like it (when my husband is there). I guess when you are super busy, give yourself a break to do the healthy things you enjoy most. The other stuff will still be there at the end.

Staying fit has always been important to me so during the busiest of times with work I used to get up at 4 in the morning and run then. Sometimes I would just close my eyes and pretend I was asleep :-)

Cool! You clearly have VIP blogger status now!
I have a very busy schedule too and I find the key to success when things get particularly busy is blocking the time to preserve my sanity. This means I make sure I block at least an hour in the morning to workout, I block at least 30 minutes in the middle of my day for a lunch break/food/change of scenery and that I block the time I need each week to stay prepared (i.e. groceries, laundry for gym clothes, etc.). It seems to work by protecting the time I need to get those things done, and I’m much happier through the busy time when I keep my food routine and workouts down! Good luck with the project – I hope you get to vacation and enjoy the break!

I don’t have an answer to this one – I’m just agreeing with how hideous it can be! I’ve kind of come round to accepting that there are times when my workload is so heavy that all I’ll manage to do in the day is work, eat (ha!) and sleep. There’s no chance I’d ever get up early and exercise! And I think that’s ok if it’s only for a while and the end is in sight. It’s more problematic if it goes on and on for ages. I’ve just completed a year at work which required the longest hours ever – but I’m really lucky – I now have a MONTH off to recharge. We’re kinder to ourselves that way in Europe. But, boy, do I need it – and look as though I need it.

Agree with Brother J, but more bluntly; hitting it hard when life is hitting you hard is what separates success from failure.
Oh, and in the words of Evelle Snoats, “you’re young and you got yer health, whatta need a job fer…?”

congrats on being contacted by companies! I loved the feeling when it happened to me!!!!
As for your question: I totally understand how life can get busy. I own my own company and I could not sympathize with you more!! What I do? I have ME TIME and I make sure I get it no matter what time it is!! I schedule it as if it were a client!!!

Congrats on being a blog superstar who gets free stuff. Who doesn’t love free stuff?
Unfortunately, I never figured out how to balance a stressful work life with a healthy lifestyle. I wasn’t able to make much progress with my weight loss until after I got out of a miserable workplace. I’m hoping that I’ve made enough progress that I’ll be able to keep it up when I go back to work.
I hope you finish your project soon and can have some “me time” to relax and enjoy the summer.

I work shift work, so days and nights, long shifts, and last minute changes. So I’ve really had to adapt to that situation. I have some small hand weights I keep at my desk to help. I also just recently bought the Gruve, which helps me keep track of calories burned and it buzzes if I’ve been sitting too long.
I live and die by my schedule and I actually plan me time in so I can go to the gym/workout.
Congrats on reaching blog superstar status **jealous** LOL

i own a pet care business, work weekends, go to college, and have to figure out how to get everything done. Especially with last minute things! When things get too crazy i make sure i steal some time to take a nap, long shower, or bath. Anything that lets me recharge so i can come back at the situation with a clearer head.

I find that when I’m busy, it’s good to take time to do some mindless type of cardio, like jogging on the treadmill. It gives me time to mentally organize my day and often I end up with some pretty good plans that way.
Hope things aren’t stressing you out too much. Everyone understands that your work comes before blogging.

I try to remember to do things for myself no matter how busy I am. And if I have to, I take an evening off and do whatever I need to to take care of myself. If that means, I skip the gym and just curl up with a book, so be it.

I am going through the exact same thing right now. Not the part about being contacted by companies, but the part about being busy! I am so busy that I feel guilty taking time out to write on my blog and read other blogs. That’s why I’m up later than I should be right now… :)
