I really enjoy watching the Olympics. It doesn’t matter if it’s Summer or Winter, I LOVE THEM.
During the Winter Olympics, my favorite sport this year has been short track speed skating. I love watching the men in particular.
Okay, I love watching Apolo Ohno. I’ve developed a bit of a crush on him.
Here’s Apolo after winning his record
7th medal in an Olympics.
I don’t know what it is about Apolo that I love. I guess there are many things. I really enjoy watching his competitive nature. I’m also very competitive, so I enjoy seeing others competing on a different level.
I also enjoy watching fit people. I mean, have you seen the guy’s legs? Unfreaking-believeable!
Last night as we were waiting for Apolo to take the ice for the 500 meter race, my husband said to me, “You’re having a mental affair with Apolo Ohno!”
Of course, he thought it was quite funny. I even found myself nervously laughing.
At first I wasn’t sure how he knew.
- I guess my continuous shushing of him when the announcers would say Apolo’s name could have gave it away.
- Or my “oohs and ahhs” over watching him exercise as he prepared for his tight turns.
- Maybe it was my remarking how neat and cool the reason why he yawned before competing was.
- Or maybe it was how I undressed him with my eyes.
I’m not sure, but there must have been lots of red flags. LOL
“Hello Mr. Soul Patch, my name is Anonymous
Fat Girl… err I mean Bobbie.”
.
Here’s a great article about how Apolo shed 16 lbs and his training regiment.
I’ve always appreciated physical fitness in others, whether in the Olympics or my two favorite sports – College Football and College Basketball.
Hell, I love watching fit people play sports or even workout at the gym.
I appreciate a nice set of washboard abs and nice arms on a guy. Those things just impress me and make me think, “Wow! They must work hard to stay in shape!” (And man, HAWT!)
Even when I was at my highest weight, I appreciated these things. But the funny thing is, I never thought it was possible to have physical fitness for myself. My oh my how things have changed.
I already know how I’m going to look when I get to where I want to be. I see a visual in my head. ALL OF THE TIME.
Have you thought about WHERE you want to be or WHAT you want to look like?
Have you gotten to the point where you know it’s POSSIBLE for you to reach a level of physical fitness you once thought was unattainable even though you’re not an Olympian?
Do you have a crush on Apolo Ohno? (totally kidding on that question)

I’m an Evan gal. :)
During the summer Olympics two years ago, I was just starting my fitness phase, and I would watch the coverage while I was on treadmill. I was so inspired by them, and I knew I was on my way to becoming more *like* them (or closer than I was.) They might’ve been running marathon and leaping hurdles and doing double twist dives, but I was treadmilling for America! :)

I’ve found myself on the treadmill @ the gym watching the Olympics and definitely being inspired to push harder because of it, so I can relate for sure.

I agree he is a cutie but can’t stand soul patches! I agree with Tiffany that Evan was pretty cute too. It is much more fun to think about them, and their cute butts, than my fitness goals. Sorry.

I so totally agree about Apolo. I love his cool zen idealology. My daughter and I both think he is hot. I wonder if he likes chunky gals??

I could only dream that he liked chunky girls but I don’t think he does. He was in my Women’s Health magazine this month and I think he said something about liking fit girls. Oh well…

I have reached a point where I think it’s possible. It’s a great feeling. I imagine myself looking the way I looked at age 17/18. I got the same haircut I had then, and now I just need to get as skinny & toned as I was then. I may not get to as low of a weight as then, but that’s fine. I want to feel as confident as I did then & look toned.

I just want to be happy when I look in the mirror. I know what I’ll look like because I’ve been there a few times for short periods of time. I don’t know what it’s like to stay in that place for long.
I LOVE the winter games and can’t believe they are almost over. I’m going to miss watching.
It inspires me to see the dedication these athletes have to get to the top of their sport. I’m going to pretend to be in training for the next 4 years and see where I’ll be for the 2014 Olympics.
I absolutely have a crush on Apolo Ono (and Bode Miller) ;)

MB, thanks for commenting! :)
I’m going to miss watching them too. And for the record Bode Miller was kinda hot too.
And a great way to look at it for the next four years! I love that!

I love and totally respect Apolo Ohno. Alot of people are basing him on “looks”( shallow people). I love him for his heart and his soul which will outlast anyones looks. I would love to be able to hang out with Apolo, he radiates with hope and inspiration. You could have the good-looking guys, I’ll take a man like Apolo. Apolo “8″ Ohno Rocks.

Deana thank you for commenting! :)
My admiration for Apolo goes much deeper than his hotness. I admire his competitiveness, his fitness and I do think he’s a well rounded guy. You watch him in the interviews and listen to him and he’s very articulate. Quite the package! :)

dont’ hate me but i will leave mr. ohno for you :) i’m just not a sports fan.
as far as what i want to attain, i want to get BACK what i had for seven years… yes i’m vain but i want to be skinny as hell again and i want to be able to just go out the door and run (a very slow) 2 or 3 miles every day just to relax, like it’s no big deal. i want shopping for clothes to be a pleasure, not an exercise in staying positive. i want to get back that state where everything in life, and i mean EVERYTHING was easier because i was smaller, lighter, and fitter than i am now. i know it won’t fix everything, i don’t expect it to. i was not as happy then as i am now; i was in a marriage that wasn’t working and where there was a huge emphasis on my appearance. hence the added motivation i had to remain in shape once i acheived that state. this time i have to find my own reasons, do it on my own, and maintain it on my own. i’ll totally do it, it’s just taking a little longer than it did when i had someone dragging me out the door twice a day to walk the pounds off.

I love Apolo too. I’m not lusting after him like you though, naughty girl! I just love his attitude. He is humble and at the same time seems to have a high level of self esteem. He is the kind of young man/athlete that our children can look up to. Now that Tiger Woods has been dethroned, we need a new hero. Apolo is my nominee!

LOL! You sound like me with Bobby LaBonte (Nascar) and Peyton Manning. I had always thought Peyton was “cute” until I saw him without a shirt on and thought “Holy Crap………he is HOT”! lol……..and yes, my husband teases me everytime either of them are on tv.
I know WHERE I want to be and WHAT I want to look like….but my journey is a long one…but I will get there!!!
Okay, Apolo is a cutie, but whats with that thing on his chin? Ew! lol

I like soul patches and goatees. I seen on t.v. where they explained why he has a soul patch. Apparently he says he can’t grow facial hair anywhere else!!! LOL!

That visualization is key! Good for you! I see myself as what I would look like if I had the money to do a bit of plastic surgery on my face, nose & boobies! :-) I see nothing wrong with a few tweaks if ay have the money!
