Those of you that have been reading my blog for awhile know that I film my workouts at the gym every week.
I do this for a couple of reasons.
- One, so I can track my progress and have something to look back on and see how far I’ve come.
- Secondly, so I don’t go back into fat denial. BELIEVE ME, there is no hiding anything in video. Actually, I think video adds 15 to 20 pounds extra, so imagine my dismay as I edit these damn things. LOL
- And lastly, to show people that are scared to hit the gym because they are fat, overweight, nervous, or [insert reason] that you should go anyway. Look, I’m going. I’m to the point where I don’t care if I look silly or fat or ridiculous or [insert description] because I’m getting tough. Have you seen my shoulders?!
I have a bit of a strange sense of humor. I like to laugh at myself. So if I call myself a “fat ass” it’s not because I don’t think highly of myself. It’s because I know I’m fat and I won’t be for long.
How do I know this? Because I’m losing weight and building muscle. I’m doing it the right way. I’m busting my ass every day in the gym and eating healthy. It’s a lot of hard work and a tough road, I’m not gonna lie. The prize at the end of the rainbow is very rewarding and important to me: my life.
This video is from just a few hours ago and you’ll see my trainer Dean directing me and the rest of our workout group. Shout-outs to my workout buddy Deb, her son Ryan, Vicki, Jess and Herb whom all joined me tonight. And many thanks to Dean as always, for his help and encouragement.
To see all of my videos, you can subscribe to my YouTube channel, click on “My Videos” in the main navigation bar here on my blog, or click on specific videos on the right hand side of every page.
P.S. See if you notice how many times I smile in the video tonight. It’s because I’m happy and I LOVE WORKING OUT, even though it’s tough sometimes. If you aren’t exercising, try it. You just might like it too.

Hee hee!!! Just ask Herb… He’s been joining us the last few nights. I think this was after he seen me pressing 260 lbs on the leg press.

You go!
For people who just aren’t able to overcome that gym fear, there are also personal training studios where you can work out with a trainer privately. Or trainers who will come to your home. They’ll help get you over your fears and see that you are already “gym-worthy.” The main point is to get moving! It really does make all the difference in the world.

Good point, Cammy. There’s a lot of options out there for those that can’t get past it, but the most important thing is to make a CHOICE TO DO SOMETHING and MOVE!!! :)

Thanks you your most excellent example, I actually went to the acsm web site, and found a certified trainer not too far from me. I’ll be meeting up with him for the first time next week. :-D Am very excited.

[...] Watching my workout video from Wednesday, I couldn’t help but notice that my smile is SO FREAKING BACK it’s not even funny. Dean mentioned that he thought it was my best video yet – because I was smiling. It feels good to know that I’m smiling again and back on the road to happiness as the weight comes off. [...]

[...] I also had a nice talk with Dean about my 6 lb gain tonight. I know Dean thinks the scale is bunk and a waste of time in general, but he had some ideas. I’ve been hitting cardio hard this last week. [...]
