My trainer has been preaching to me that I gotta quit focusing on the damn scale and focusing on inches that I am losing. Instead of validating my success on the scale, I’ve decided to actually listen to him and set some more goals. Why it’s taking me a month and a half to listen to him is beyond me. I’m finding he’s been right in everything he’s told me so far. I guess I have a problem of learning things the hard way. Well that’s the story of my life! :)
Back when I started this journey on November 9th, I listed various goals that included my weight goal. Although I will continue to weigh myself weekly, I vow not to obsess over it as I have in the past.
Here are some new fitness goals I am busy working towards at this time.
- Daily workouts at the gym
- Burn 500 calories per workout
- Continue losing inches each and every month
- Next June bike 45 miles with my workout buddy in the Bike for Breast Cancer awareness
- Next July participate in the local 5K or 10K foot race
- By Next November be able to do a set of pull ups on the big pull up bar at the gym
These are good, positive fitness goals that do not involve the scale. I’ve cut my twice a day workouts down to once a day since I got burned out for two days and experienced a rut.
I’ve found I easily burn 525 calories during approximately 60 minutes of weight training with my trainer. Tonight I did the elliptical and ran on the treadmill and burned over 500 calories in about 30 minutes. I was really pushing it, but it felt great. I know 500 calories is a number I can hit without a problem. I’m sure I’ll want to up that goal as I continue, but for now it’s a nice round number.
