I like to work up a good sweat

Are you one of those types of people that hates to sweat? I mean really, really hates being sweaty? Are you afraid to to be that sweaty girl at the gym? I used to be that person.

I’ve always been able to work up a good, clean sweat no matter what hardcore activity I was engaging in. Whether it be sports, running, you name it. No matter how thin or fat I’ve been in my life, I’ve sweated. And I’ve always disliked it on some level, at least until recently.

I’ve decided I don’t care if I sweat anymore. I’ve decided to embrace myself entirely – sweat and all. Being a sweaty person when I workout is a part of who I am, there’s nothing I can do about it. I LOVE who I am. And when I workout, I usually have buckets and buckets of sweat falling off of me. My clothes are generally drenched at the end of a good workout.

Here I am after only 20 minutes on the treadmill.
It’s hard to tell in the picture, but I’m all sweaty.
And guess what? I don’t give a rat’s ass!

Here’s why I don’t care if I sweat. I’m not looking for love at the gym, I’m happily married. I’m not trying to look hot when I’m working out or impress anyone. And believe me – I usually look silly and completely ridiculous when I’m there. The only person I’m looking to impress is me, myself and I. That’s it.

There’s nothing I can do about being a sweaty person, it’s just in my genetic make up, one of the many things that makes me who I am. What I can control is how much I put into my workouts. I can go to the gym and I can put in 110%. I can sweat my ass off and not let it bother me. Do you know why? Because I know when I’m covered in sweat, it means I’m giving it everything I have and then some.

A funny side note about sweating – my husband told me the other week after a long day at the gym that he actually thought it was kind of hot that I was all sweaty and giving it my all. Just another reason to embrace being sweaty!

Are you afraid to work up a good sweat? If so, why?

I remember a poster at my gym that said something like: “Ladies glow, men perspire and winners sweat their asses off”.

Harry, thank you for commenting and visiting my blog!

I really liked that saying. Wow. Maybe I should put it up in my home gym. That’s awesome.

I don’t sweat very much until toward the end of my workout. Oddly, when I get into cool down mode my body feels warmer. Weird eh?

I am not afraid to sweat at the gym. I suppose I always figured that’s what the gym towels were for. I was more worried about looking ridiculous using the cardio machines.

Great post! :o)

Kellie, I know what you mean about cooling down. I usually continue to sweat a lot after my workout is done as well. I guess it’s our body’s way of getting things in check.

ha! i’m a big sweater (dripping, not knitted) too. no matter how chubby or scrawny i am, i always sweat ALOT if i exert myself at all. it can be inconvenient, like if i want to run and catch a class at the gym on my lunch hour and there’s time for the class but not a shower… kinda rules that out for me. but like you said, it’s who i am.

Yea that sucks. I remember when me and a friend of mine used to go to Curves. She liked going at lunch but I couldn’t do that because I didn’t want to go back to work all sweaty. It kind of limits your options on when you can work out if you are a serial sweater. :)
