Last night I had posted about my night in the gym and how my trainer was having a bad night and left because he said I had an attitude. A few of you had commented, but I decided to remove the post because it really wasn’t important and I didn’t want to add to the situation.
We all have our moments, we’re all human, we all handle stress differently. That includes me, and that includes my trainer who has become a friend of mine.
So I started thinking, what’s the best way to handle stress?
Some of us just need time away. Some of us cry, scream, get mad and run through a full set of emotions. Some of us eat away our stress. (Like I did last night once again, even though I was fully aware of what I was doing. Let’s just say this morning hasn’t been kind to me so far.)
Are any of these ways the BEST way to handle stress? I guess it just depends on your vantage point and your personal preference.
Here are some of the funniest stress relievers I found online this morning:
Sometimes it just feels good to smash or break something.
Wouldn’t a vacation be ideal? I really need one of those.
A good run is an excellent stress reliever for some.
Now this is an interesting take on a stress
reliever ball – a stress reliever “boob”
So how do you deal with the stress in your life? Do you have a unique way of handling things before they reach a boiling point?

My husband has one of those huge sand bags that boxers use to train. When I’m really stressed, I like to punch the living daylights out of that thing. Usually I end up laughing.
Sorry last night wasn’t so good for you.

Yikes on that booby ball! I like to exercise off my stress.. and lots of times I just bit*h to my poor hubby about everything! Yes, a vacation to Hawaii or a place like that would be ideal but money or lack of it is part of my stress right now! That boxing I did a while back helped punch out some stress too!
I rarely eat out my stress anymore…. I guess a step in the right direction!
The Dean letter was great! Thx for that. I did miss the post you took off though so I know nothing! :-)
And yes, comment luv will not change for me & I have no idea why!

Wouldn’t Hawaii be fab? :)
I don’t know what’s up with CommLuv. I had some issues a few weeks ago with all blog links coming up for a Zoo’s website so I removed the feature. I added it back in the other day and all seems well except with yours. I know it goes off of your RSS feed. Have you changed anything in that regard?

I have not changed anything but who knows what GoDaddy did.. I don’t like them but I don’t want to go thru the hassle of changing everything over to another provider.

I like to vent to someone. And lately I have found that writing on my blog helps with stress, even if I am writing about something else entirely. It distracts me. I have definitely been stressed lately! No more eating for stress though:)

Blog writing has been a Godsend to me personally. I’m still a work in progress on the stress eating. I’m aware now, so that’s a good thing. :)

Blogging has helped. Sometimes I just write (vent) but keep it as a draft. I still stress-eat but am more aware now. Deep breathing. 5 min alone. The reality, though, is that I growl and break things. Love the sound of crashing and slamming. I’ve controlled that to be a better example to my kids.
I was in charge of a college activity once. I brought in a junk car (glass removed) on campus and sledge hammers. Students could pick up the hammer and pound away. Felt good.
I clean the best when I’m stressed. I’m like a cleaning tornado.

Deep breathing is a real good one! And I like the sound of breaking things and the feeling I get. I really need to sign up for a kickboxing or boxing class!

I used to be the WORST at stress management. I would hold it all in, until I would have THE WORST panic attacks.
Now, when I am stressed, I work out or go for a drive to think. I also don’t let things get to me like they used to. I grew better at letting things go :)

Tiffani,
The driving is a good one too. Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the environment and just see greener pastures. And think. :)

Exercise, writing, and talking with friends are all great stress busters!
So is the moral victory in knowing you rose above someone else’s unprofessional and negative behavior to take the high road. I’m just sayin’ :)

I’m not exactly sure how I handle stress- maybe I don’t handle it at all, I think I just keep chuggin along. I know blogging has def been helpful- other than that I usually will just pray it out and gain some perspective that way.

I still am horrible in dealing with stress. Absolutely horrible. I think praying and meditation are definite good routes to take.

Whenever I’m stressed out, I just squeeze on my handy little squishy stress reliever that I keep right here by my laptop. See, I just squeeze and squeeze and… dammit! It just burst open and now there’s F*CKIN’ SAND ALL IN MY KEYBOARD! Grrrrrrrr….

i hope you’re starting to feel better.
hmmm when i’m stressed sometimes i feel like i just have to plow right ahead and get things done so then i get edgy and perhaps a little short with people :/ i like to disengage when i am stressed, working out would be the best option, but that doesn’t always happen. watching tv, reading, anything solitary seems to help me best. but that isn’t always an option so lately i’ve been trying to just say out loud “wow, i’m kinda overwhelmed!” and then try to find something to laugh about, even if it’s just the insanity of the current situation. acknowledging the stress/stressor seems to help me, and laughing is always good in my book. i’m a work in progress in dealing with stress though…

Mostly I could get into beating something with a sledgehammer! I’m doing more quiet meditation or getting on the treadmill and less emotional eating although it’s still an uphill battle. My first instinct is still to dive for the comfort food.
